Well, nothing particularly new and exciting to discuss today. I'm sending out a few more submissions, particularly one to Rambler magazine of an extremely short story. I don't know if they even accept things this short (approx 600 words) but you never know unless you try right? I have a poem I wrote the other day too, but I'm not sure where to submit it yet.
Right now I'm taking a break from a paper for Contemporary American Poetry. We have to discuss two poems, and the archetypes present within each as well as how they are similar. Kind of fun really. I've always loved literary analysis, because its kind of like being a detective. There are hidden meanings there to be found if a person is willing to pry into the correct corners.
Beyond that, I still haven't heard too much on the subject of my possible internship. I'm meeting with a career adviser again on Wednesday so we'll see how that goes, as we're going to go over my internship prospectus. And then, just maybe, I'll finally mail this bad boy out. Heres hoping.
The rest of my time is split between writing, exercising and as of later this week, starting guitar lessons. I'm pretty excited. I can't wait to finally be able to play this beautiful instrument I have.
There isn't a reason you shouldn't
back this many up
they told me later,
their eyes on the pulse of the
player.
The beats projected through me,
each single stuck between ribs, musical living
organs
each a note apart, disjointed
cacophony of my attack.

The future ain't what it used to be.
I'm still finding myself very stressed about the future. The prospect of finding an internship seems to be getting further and further away, the more time I spend on it. I feel like everyone will have already found the good ones by the time I submit my stuff, and who wants to hire someone who writes mediocre poetry and stories anyway? I'm not a professional writer and I never claimed to be.
This is a lot of work.
I did submit a few pieces to Poetry magazine this week, so maybe I'll hear back from them sometime soon. That'd make me very happy if they accepted some of my work. You never know. The pieces I sent in were somewhat weak though. I need a full time critic, someone to tell me what my writing honestly is.
